CLEANING COPPER - Pots, Pans, Ornaments Cleaning Copper

How to Clean Copper

Copper is a very versatile metal that can be found in varies forms in the home from cooking wares, pipes, jewellery and ornaments.

Dependant upon how your copper item has been treated will dictate how you should clean it.

Sometimes Copper items have a lacquer finish applied, this helps to stop the item from tarnishing, for such items simply wash with warm soapy water, and then ensure it is dried properly. Do not use a Polish as this will remove the protective layer.

Copper with out a Lacquer finish is easy to distinguish as over time it will turn dull and darken as the copper reacts with the air, dependant upon what the copper is exposed to you will see a different colour of Patina (tarnish produced by oxidation or other chemical processes) forming from dark brown to a turquoise in colour. Goddards Brass and Copper polish has been specifically designed to care for your Copper items, removing the toughest of tarnishing with out having to rub or buff, it also provides Anti tarnish protection, keeping your copper brighter for longer.
